GERMAN-AMERICAN MUSEUMS, SITES, AND COLLECTIONS SURVEY

PURPOSE

The purpose of this survey is to identify historic sites, buildings, museums, and collections (of books, artifacts, etc.) and other testimonials (such as monuments, markers, cemeteries) that exemplify the history and cultural heritage of immigrants from the German-speaking areas of Europe. Whereas our primary intention is to make the results of the survey available to scholars, we would also like to make the general public more aware, and more appreciative of the area's German-American heritage. We are, therefore, planning to publish the results not only in the form of an electronic data- base, but also in a printed version suitable for teaching. We kindly request your cooperation.
