There is a book called THE WORLD GUIDE TO BEER by Michael Jackson. First American version published by Prentice Hall Inc. (1977). copyright by Quarto limited. It might be a little difficult to locate since it is a large 9 inch by 12 hardback with 255 pages. Whether one likes Beer or not I think one would still find it interesting. It devotes about 30 pages to German beer including Muncheners. For example there is an old sketch in one place showing people in clothes that look like the late 1800s enjoying a combination of beer and food in a ratskeller.
Trivia of the day ......... Salvator double bock (goat) may be purchased as an import here in the states. I would caution anyone drinking even one of these to beware. Double bocks are the world's strongest beers. The strongest beer in the world is generally agreed to be a double bock brewed in Kulmbach in the northern part of Bavaria. Its alcohol content is well over 13 percent.
